Some tragic news to report out of Mexico today as authorities have confirmed a gunman killed 5 and injured 15 in the early hours of Monday morning outside The Blue Parrot nightclub in Playa Del Carmen which was hosting The BPM Festival‘s closing party.
Eye witness reports from the festival reveal that a possible argument began outside the club when festival security confronted a man attempting to bring a gun into the venue. Sadly three of the 5 deceased were festival security, while the fifth was killed from the ensuing stampede. Two Canadians, one Italian, and one Colombian national are among the dead officials confirmed to reporters.

The BPM Festival is a long running music festival that takes place for 10 days each year in Mexico and consistently features some of the biggest names in techno and underground dance music. Some of the acts who performed at the festival this year immediately began to reach out on social media.

The BPM Festival released an official statement on the tragic shooting, writing “We are overcome with grief over this senseless act of violence and we are cooperating fully with local law enforcement and government officials as they continue their investigation.”
