This past weekend CRSSD Festival (the Fall Edition) took over San Diego’s gorgeous Waterfront Park for two days of electronic music. The festival grounds sat next to the Pacific Ocean which provided views of giant ships and sailboats as the backdrop of the fest on one side, and the impressive San Diego skyline on the other.
The festival grounds were easily accessible and could be traveled with few to no blisters. Two giant fountains with inches of wading water and a number of water spouts could be utilized by patrons. These fountains were not only incredibly fun to dance in and run through, but they were also a lifesaver (seeing as San Diego was having an exceptionally hot weekend for this time of year, creeping into the high 80s).
CRSSD was composed of three stages, each with a unique feel: the City Steps, the Palms, and Ocean View Live. On day one the two smaller stages (City Steps, and the Palms) were host to a number of impressive DJ sets, some of which included: SNBRN, Classixx B2B Holy Ghost, Cashmere Cat B2B Trippy Turtle, Bonobo, Bob Moses, Anna Lunoe, Tchami, and Jamie XX.
Artists that graced the larger Ocean View Live stage on day one included: Swimm, Monakr, Gallany, St.Lucia, Zhu, and The Flaming Lips. My personal favorites were The Flaming Lips, complete with giant blow up creatures, dancing rainbows and mushrooms, and a crowd-surfing panda.
Day two of the festival welcomed: Alunageorge, Panda Bear, Totally Enormous and Extinct Dinosaurs DJ set, Kygo, Todd Terje, Maya Jane Coles, Nicolas Jarr DJ set, and TV on the Radio (just to name a few). Overall, CRSSD had an excellent location with some impressive and exciting artists, making for a complete blast for all attendees.
