Free Press Houston, the same organizers behind Houston’s Free Press Summer Festival in June, have revealed details for their 2nd annual Day For Night festival in collaboration with New York-based creative agency Work-Order. The 2-day festival will take place December 17-18 in Downtown Houston, TX with an environment specifically designed around the merging of technology, sound, and light and how the audience experiences them. The festival campus is a 1.5 million square foot space offering three main stages and seamless indoor-outdoor flow between the stages and interactive art installations.
Day For Night’s main musical attraction is no doubt electronic music pioneer Aphex Twin who will perform his first US live show in 8 years, as well as multiple digital sets and VR installations from Iceland’s Björk.
Other notable acts on the 2016 lineup include ODESZA, Kaskade, Travis Scott, Nick Murphy (Chet Faker), Run The Jewels, BANKS, Butthole Surfers, The Jesus And Mary Chain, Squarepusher, Blood Orange, Little Dragon, RZA, Thundercat, Kamasi Washington, John Carpenter, Washed Out, Ariel Pink, Arca, Lightning Bolt, DJ Windows 98 (Win Butler), Liars, S U R V I V E, SOPHIE, Tobacco, and ‘Welcome To Houston‘ composed of more than a dozen of Houston’s most legendary hip hop artists — Z-Ro, Lil’ Flip, Slim Thug, Bun B, Mike Jones, Devin the Dude, Paul Wall, Lil’ Keke, Yungsta, Big T, E.S.G., J Dawg, Lil’ O, Swisha House Click, DJ DMD and DJ Michael Watts.
This year’s festival will also feature large scale live and interactive art installations from Björk Digital, United Visual Artists, Golan Levin, NONOTAK, Shoplifter, Tundra, Robert Seidel, Damien Echols, AV&C + Houzé, Michael Fullman of VT Pro Design, Ezra Miller, Jesse Kanda, Alex Czetwertynski and Herman Kolgen.
