‘In Small Print’ is a new editorial series highlighting some of the exciting up-and-coming acts that you may have overlooked towards the bottom of a music festival lineup.
Late September of last year, I happen to catch the second of Albert Hammond Jr‘s sold out shows at the Bowery Ballroom in New York. The opening act, Prinze George, a three piece indie electro-pop band based in Brooklyn, NY who are comprised of Kenny Grimm (production/instrumental), Naomi Almquist (vocals) and Isabelle De Leon (drums). Their formula of spacey and atmospheric songs really caught my attention at that show.
Initially, Almquist and Grimm grew up together in Prince George’s County, MD where they met De Leon while attending college. The band came together in 2013 and their first single, “Victor” which also became #1 on the Hype Machine charts, garnished the three-piece a lot of attention from record labels and grew them a big following. They later released their first self-titled EP in 2015.
