Move over, Desert Trip. A new bi-coastal mega fest is coming to New York and Los Angeles this July. Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles will headline Classic East and Classic West at Citi Field and Dodger Stadium, respectively.
Rolling Stone reports the two-day festivals will also feature more legendary acts to be announced soon. Organizers have created this “Classic” franchise in hopes of it becoming an annual event.
Classic East and Classic West will be a co-production between Live Nation, MSG, CAA and the Oak View Group.
This announcement puts a damper on rumors of a second Desert Trip. The first Desert Trip took place in October, and was produced by Live Nation’s biggest competitor, AEG. The festival was one of the highest grossing live music events in history, grossing over $160-million across two weekends. Irving Azoff, head of Live Nation, manages both Fleetwood Mac and the Eagles.
Representatives for Fleetwood Mac say these two shows will be their only dates of 2017, leaving a huge void as to who else could headline other events of this blockbuster stature.
More details regarding Classic East and Classic West are expected soon.
